Travel with our Naturalist on the road and on foot to explore Rocky Mountain National Park from it’s grassy meadows, mountain forests, and amazing tundra. Our Naturalist will guide you to those special places most folks pass by to help you find want to see. You'll learn the names of the plants and animals, explore the park to discover their stories, and find out why each creature is so special and amazing. Everyday in the park is a new adventure with new wonders to see, from mountain tops to fox tracks in the snow, they all have their own story.

Here is a quick video on a plant everyone is familar with, but you may not know much about. This is just one common species, and after watching the video image everything else we could find and explore that interests you when all of Rocky Mountain National Park's plants, animals, and mountains are at our finger tips.

Elk, one of the first creatures you'll encounter in the park or maybe even in Estes Park's golf course, abound in great herds on the eastern slope. The bulls, with their magnificent antlers, will lounge within yards of the road. Moose can be found in the west side of the park with a little luck.  A variety cute fuzzy mammals like chipmunks, ground squirrels, the yellow-bellied marmot, American Pika, and the feisty Red Squirrel can be found throughout the park. Coyotes regularly den in the meadows as they raise their puppies and hunt for rodents. America's largest and most influential rodent, the beaver, inhabits the watery areas. You will be amazed to learn about the beaver's influence on world politics and US history. Big Horn Sheep range in the higher elevations and are always a treat to see.

Wildflowers like Larkspurs, Shooting Stars, and Columbine can be even more captivating then the park's mountains. Do not neglect the abundant plant life of the park, over 1000 species have been identified inside the park's boundries.  These beautiful inhabitants have evolved a wide array of defenses, adaptations, and even ways to manipulate other creatures to help them survive in this unique mountain habitat. Every plant has a story and you could spend more then a few days indulging in their intrigue and splendor.
